The Hunter With Wings

It Began When I Was Very Little. I found a heart shape leaf and kept it between the pages of my fairytale book. Often, I held and waved it gently on my face, I smelled the mud and chlorophyll; echoes from nature exert an everlasting pull on my heart. One day the leaf crushed. I believed that the fairy liked it so much and had to steal it away. I tried to look for the same leaf, but can never find one alike.

The cedar fragrance, valley wildflowers, falls beauties, ghost frost, all the nerves trembling feels that connect to my heart are the aims - My hunting expedition began.

Candle from Eden

Maybe the lighter is old
Or, the candle heart is wet
Whatever the cause
It lights again
The candle on the end table
Flickers with wavy halo ring

And, my dogs, they much prefer
To have candle light in winter
Glittery flame is better than boring bulb
Cheers them up so much
In truth, mom is the same
Commenting with a wince,
“Who else in the world would be content with a candle?”

A delight to have variety in my indoor world
Me, and my furry friends who don’t talk,
Roll and tuck under the wool coverlet
Somewhere – we find secret amusement
Darkness trapped under wooly cover that keeps us warm
Oh! Who can explain my love for these four-legged friends
So loyal, easy to please, rarely angered
They find contentment yet again in a peanut butter treat
And always happy to slurp at the old drinking fountain

Yes, maybe humans were exiled from Eden
Chasing after the shiniest jewel
They have forgotten the croaking frog in the pond
Misty morn in the secret garden
Icy creek and snow-laden trees
Are more stunning than diamond necklaces and rings
Really? Some might wonder…

I presume the dogs are reincarnated fairies
Quite remarkable little creatures
They dash through the wood like wild wolves
Mindlessly roam and never lose their way
The cadence of their pace, like victory drumbeats proclaiming love
Carry the lighted candle from Eden into this world
